I’ve been taking pictures of various places, people, objects and nature for a while. I’ve finally gotten the hang of it: composition, lighting etc., and I believe my pictures are beyond those of an amateur. I love taking photographs and the feeling it gives me when I see a photo that I’ve taken, a moment that I’ve captured that can never be replicated.

One of the new aspects of photography that I’ve embarked on recently is capturing people’s emotions. I spend a lot of time on busy streets and parks taking pictures of people’s faces and their gestures. It's an amazing feeling when you capture someone in a bad mood or someone who’s ecstatic upon receiving some good news. It feels great. At first, I wasn’t aware of the fact that since the composition of the photograph included a person’s recognizable face, I was to obtain permission from that person before posting the pictures online or being able to sell them. Although the photos were taken in a public place there are some legal issues that surround that matter. If not for my friend who pointed this out to me I would still be taking pictures of strangers sitting on park benches. I now snap my photo, walk up to that person, and tell them that I took their picture and ask them if it is alright for me to post it online. Most of the time, the subjects do not object to this. But there are some who have the attitude of “how dare you take my picture.” It all contributes to the fun of things. When you are walking up to someone to tell them, you never know what their reaction is going to be. I’m having a lot of fun with my camera and I’m really glad that I began this hobby. I hope to continue clicking for a long time to come...
